The Agenda

Don't say...you've forgotten about the Pancake Manor.
I'd like to recommend it to you.

I know this photo isn't of the Pancake Manor - it's just our kitchen at home but 2 of the subjects were there today and NO - we didn't play Hungry Hippo either...we had lunch today at the aforementioned location with 2 of our close friends.

I take pancakes seriously - (as I do my other faves - scones, carbonara and noyce droy whoyte woyne) and I haven't been to the Pancake Manor since it was really popular back in the 90's. I was gonna have the bacon and eggs pancakes with maple syrup but caved in and just had them with ice-cream.

Let's all agree to put the Pancake Manor back on the agenda.

Pancakes are extremely important things, and this is from someone who has no shame insaying I have perfected the art of the cafe breakfast over many commited years of yuppie early morning dining.
So I can say, unfortunately, but also with some authority that The Pancake Manor is over. Sad, devastating even, but true.

Earlier this year I took my Got-daughter out for her birthday and I wanted to take her somewhere special in town and where do you take a seven year old for fun. Not the new Pancake Manor on the Mall ( it is closed now anyway) but the old one I remeber from the 80's ( and even earlier maybe), the converted church in Charlotte St that used to be open 24 hours. (Yes a venue from the 80's in Brisbane that was open 24 hours !!)
So I am sitting there with Gracie-cakes all excited about having my Banana Caramel Pnacakes and trying to explain to a younger generation about the rich history of this place; and out comes the most sorry excuse for a pancake I have ever had. It may have been microwaved. McDonalds Pancakes are way better. It must have been pre cooked and thawed out for the order. It was a gross dissapointment and I would have made a scene to put Catherine Tate to shame if i had not been with an impressionable youngster.
My search for a good pancake continues, but I will not return to the Pancake Manor.
The only ones that come close, (and very close) is a beach cafe at Moffatt Beach Caloundra. They had pancakes I couldn't eben finish.

    Sigh

In summary: Pancakes should be back on the agenda, but not the Pancake Manor.

I maintain my support for the Pancake Manor...I think one should get out and visit the new restaurant in Ipswich Central and you'll taste real good pancakes...waaaay better than Maccy-D's and totally satisfying...so pthc4 - I challenge you to a pancake-off !
