Bushes at Home

Don't say...green coconut.
July 1974
I remember this "Zoo" cake so well...it isn't every birthday that parents go to the trouble of making you a themed cake.
This cake looks tricky I reckon and clearly recall watching Mum fiddle away with the green coconut (Lisa did this on Eli's cake recently and I still don't know how you do that ? Do ya buy it green ?) Anyway, I absolutely loved it. I remember being allowed to keep the animals (but the fence around the Zoo never really went back together) and then using them to have 'super adventures' for hours in the bushes at home.

I remember seeing this cake in the Women's Weekly before Mum made it. It was sposed to have the chocolate coated fingers but either Mum couldnt get any or.... well you know. She used round chocolate biscuits instead. And Damy still remembers it as something special and only I have a jaded memory of Mum taking shortcuts. I do believe Mum made a theme cake for me perhaps once, but somehow I just cant recall.
Dear Lord I am bitter today.

PS Green food clouring + coconut = grass. Its not that hard
