Don't say...public transport.
Have driven Dad to the bus stop at 6.50am this morning...but that's not all...I 'accompanied' him to the Roma Street Transit Centre whereupon he planned to catch the air-train (at $13.50) to the airport for his visit to Melbourne to see his 80 year old brother, Ray.
What about driving him directly to the airport itself ?
I wonder if everyone dislikes public transport ? It's the waiting (the queing - arrgghhh), the uncertainty (What if the bus doesn't turn up ?), making sense of the complex timetables, the cranky odd bus drivers, getting in trouble for handing them a $50 note to pay for a $3 bus ride, the fight for the seat (yes, the fight), the stress of knowing when to press the red button....I avoid it whenever I can.

yeah public transport does seem pointless sometimes - although i reckon if all public transport was free that would be great and people would stop using their cars - and well surely that would be good for the environment...wold you catch public transport if it was super cheap?? ( since petrol prices are rising1!)

Ta 'J" - I think I might however the issue is about the buses and trains don't really go where I need to be...I feel I have no choice but to drive...and then the need to go into the city is getting less and less as we have everything we need in the suburbs.

yes why did you not just drive him all the way to the airport!!!!!!! Perhaps B did not want to be in the car with you for such a long trip????? or maybe he was trying to lighten his carbon foot print.....

I love public transport, but I thinkthat is because I rarely have to use it.
I pretend I am on a big (ie super)adventure, am always polite and chatty to the bus driver, (they are never happy people). I love to give my seat for needy people. I pretend I am a tourist in New York or London and look at all the sites, and all the exciting things I have never seen before.
Of course I can manage this sort of enthusiasm about once a year.
